A dental implant cost can vary depending on several circumstances regarding the patient’s teeth and they can also vary depending on what part of the country someone lives in and they can also vary from country to country.
On average, the price of this treatment which includes a crown to be placed on top is between £3000.00 and £4000.00. In the UK the average price is £3500.00. This includes the crown which is the visible part of the implant which looks like a tooth and is separate from the implant which is a titanium structure that goes under the gum and becomes part of your body as the bone grows around it.
Price variations can occur due to there being missing or insufficient bone. In this circumstance, a bone graft is advised before implant placement. This can affect the price of an implant by increasing the cost by a few hundred pounds. Also, the price can be affected if a temporary crown or a temporary bridge is needed in the meantime to hide a space left by a missing tooth whilst the implant is healing under the gum. This would affect the price by £200.00 – £300.00.
So as you can see there are quite aspects that can affect the price and it all depends on the person because everybody’s mouth is different. Because of this a really thorough specific dental assessment is required. We at Birchgrove Dental offer a complimentary consultation for a dental implant where you can meet our implant dentist Dr Sean Haywood and chat through a person-specific treatment plan and the different payment plan options that we offer here to help spread the cost to make it manageable for you.
Having this procedure is a staged process which can take anything from 3-6 months for the implant to heal. A tooth is usually extracted because it’s failed. From here you would have a couple of months of healing, and then an assessment and some X-rays would take place. From that, usually around the 3-month mark an implant can be placed, and then the dentist will decide from there whether the tooth can be placed on the same day or a couple of months later. Placing the tooth will restore the gap by placing the tooth on top of the implant. Everybody is different; it all depends on the person.
Implants do not affect the surrounding teeth but regular check-ups and hygiene visits are paramount as maintenance is needed to keep it healthy, more so than a tooth.
